Video: what macadamia farming machinery do you have?
The Australian Macadamia Channel on YouTube is chockablock with macadamia farming video content. They have a few hundred videos posted. And we are going to use these to learn from and educate with.
The Australian macadamia farming scene started way back in history. In the stone-age times actually. Where macadamia nuts were foraged for along the North East coast, in the tropical rain forests.
“Macadamia is a genus of four species of trees indigenous to Australia, and constituting part of the plant family Proteaceae. They are native to northeastern New South Wales and central and southeastern Queensland. “
Ok, so the video…very informative run down of all that is required to run a successful mac operation…
It wasn’t long before macadamia production took root in South Africa. Where our climate matches that of the areas where macadamias come from in the first place.
Macadamia farming machinery in South Africa
The South African macadamia farming scene has really flourished since the literal abolishment of sugar cane. Farmers here are also foregoing paper tree plantations – for the most expensive nut worldwide, that money can buy.
Fields of green ugly sugar cane are completely replaced by neat rows of pretty little macadamia trees. The KZN South Coast and other macadamia farming areas around South Africa are all the more beautiful for it.
Eldor Engineering have been both farming macadamia nuts and producing macadamia farming machinery, down south, for decades. And this experience is built right into all the machines they produce.
